Our lil' pumpkin

Look at our "Cute little pumpkin"!

Darcy picked out this headband at the grocery store, and she wore it all the way home.

Sea World

We survived 4 hours at Sea World.

The first thing we did was Breakfast with Shamu.  I heard it was a well kept park secret, and it is.  We got to sit feet from the Shamu tank, the trainers and five whales put on a mini show for us while we eat, and the all-you-care-to-eat buffet food was good, too! Darcy kept say, "Woohoo!" and clapping after each of the tricks.  It was very cool to watch her.

After breakfast, we went to the Sesame Street Bay of Play which is the area designed for pre-schoolers based on Sesame Street characters.  She rode two of the three rides in that area and watched The Count's Countdown to Halloween show.  After the show she got to meet Elmo (her favorite!!!) and Big Bird.

By the time that was all done, it was past her normal naptime, so we needed to start heading home, but we decided to stop at the dolphin tank on our way out because she kept saying she was going to see "Elmo, dolphins, and Shamu at Sea World".  She liked the dolphins, but you could tell she needed a nap.

She fell asleep for less than 20 minutes on the drive home, and that was the ONLY nap she took all day.

As I am typing this, it's is 831 our time, and she is just starting to stir, so she doesn't take a nap yesterday, but she slept about an hour later than usual.  Do I want this to become a regular occurrence: no nap and one hour later wake up time?  No way!  I like her afternoon attitude better when she's had a full nap!

I am sure we will go back to Sea World again soon.  I hear they do up the park and the shows very nicely for the Christmas holidays which they will begin decorating for after Halloween next weekend.

More pictures to follow!

One more thing....

For those of you that don't know....

D2 is a girl! She is due February 2nd, 2009, and no, we don't have a name yet, and even if we did, we aren't telling!

We'll update more info later!

What have we been up to?

Darcy and mommy had a small stop on the way home from school today: Baskin Robbins! It was her first time to have ice cream there and she was a little apprehensive at first, but she soon was gobbling it up. Hope the pictures comes through of her cute happy face!

She turned 2 two days ago, and she can't wait to go to Sea World tomorrow for the last of her birthday celebrations.  She is looking forward to seeing "Elmo, dolphins, Shamu, penguins, fish,...."  We are going to have breakfast with Shamu and then roam the park. This will be our first trip to Sea World since Darcy was born, so we are all looking forward to it.

We have had a busy few months since the last time I blogged.

Grandy, my paternal grandfather, passed away on October 3rd which was a sad time for all of us; he was one week shy of being 99 years old.  Jeremy was great to stay home with Darcy, so I could spend some time with my parents, Michael, Natalie, Mimi, and the rest of the Kelton family.  It was a long week for all of us as I had to rush off to a work conference in Charlotte, NC the morning after the funeral.  Darcy got to spend a few days with her Bebe & Grandaddy while I was in Charlotte.  She loves to spend time with them.

When I got back Grandma Cici came to visit.  She stay with us for over a week, and we had lots of fun times while she was here.  It was so nice to have her around because I was able to make dinner while she played with Darcy or vice versa.

Last Saturday all four of us (our family plus Cici) drove to Huntington Beach to watch SkyyLee play soccer.  SkyyLee loves to play the goalie.  I think she loved have a big cheering section, too!  After the game we went back to Jeremy's parent's house to celebrate Darcy's birthday.  Darcy had her favorite meal for lunch noodles (Pick Up Stix chinese food included noodles, meat, and veggies!).  Then we had cake and ice cream and opened presents.  For having a small intimate, family party Darcy sure did get a lot of gifts.  Thank you to everyone for that!  SkyyLee's up next.  She turns 7 early next month!  Darcy will have to go shopping to find her just the right gift for her cousin.

On Darcy's actual birthday, she took pumpkin chocolate chip muffins to school to share with her friends.  They sang Happy Birthday to her which is one of her favorite songs.

I guess that is enough for now.

Hope all is well with each of you!

Love,
The Ray Family

Darcy cheesin' it up in the car

Here is a picture of Darcy cheesin' it up in the car. She loves that we switched her forward facing in the car seat.

She lets me put bows in her hair more often these days. I enjoy putting in two ponytails and one bow.

She LOVES to color.  She could color for hours if she doesn't run out of paper. She really likes when I trace her hands with a crayon.  She says, "Han...Han....Han..." if I don't trace her hand fast enough.

Her vocabulary is amazing. She uses small sentences ("Up, please." and "Where buddy go?") and uses the word 'the' in front of things quite often ("da book"), too. She thinks if you are not in the room with her you are asleep. If I ask where someone is that's not present, she says, "Night, Night!"

My Review of Delta Richmond 5-in-1 Convertible Crib - Black

Toys R Us

Delta's Richmond 5-in-1 Crib in Black provides a uniquely designed, strongly built, and always safe sleeping experience for your little loved one. The crib features a stationary non drop side design providing the ultimate in safety and also making it easy to access your little one without havin...

Not as pretty as the picture

Darcy's mom San Diego, CA 6/1/2009

3 5

Pros: Easy to Assemble

Cons: Quickly Outgrown, Flimsy

Best Uses: Infants, Newborn, Preemies

Describe Yourself: First Time Parent

We had to order another crib becauser our Jardine Olympia Lifetime crib (purchased from Babies R Us in 2007) was recently recalled.

I loved our original crib, so that is what I am comparing this new crib to when I review it.

This crib seems kind of flimsy. The lowest mattress level is higher than our last crib's lowest level, so I think my 19 month old daughter will climb out of it sooner than she would have the previous crib.

Would not purchase again, but it will do.

Darcy has had a rough four weeks. She had Pink Eye followed by Bronchitis, and she is currently recovering from Foot, Hand, Mouth disease (not as scary as it sounds). Gotta love daycare, right?

Although she has been sick quite a few times over the past four weeks, she has had a lot of fun, too. Grandma Cici (Cindy Kelton) came to visit for almost a week. She got to stay home from school for a couple of days while Cici was in town. Darcy took Grandma Cici to see her favorite band Hullabaloo.

Then Darcy got a weekend alone with Daddy while Mommy went to Texas for Aunt Dayle's funeral. Although we all missed each other, Daddy and Darcy had a great time. They went to see Hullabaloo (again!), strolled around the mall, and walked along the boardwalk at La Jolla shores.

Last weekend, Darcy and Mommy went to a book festival where they saw Hullabaloo (YES AGAIN!), a puppet show, and got lots of good info on books, website, and activities for literature and reading. Darcy had a bite of her first hot dog. She loved it. She also got a Sesame Street poster (that I haven't hung up yet) that she will absolutely love!

We celebrated Mommy's 2nd Mother's Day by spending the night at Bebe and Granddaddy's. Darcy got to play with her cousin, SkyyLee and her favorite dog, "Bubby". We are really going to have to get her a dog soon. Darcy likes doing whatever SkyyLee does. It's really cute.

Bebe is in town this week staying home with Darcy while she can't go to school because of Hand, Foot, Mouth disease.

Darcy's vocabulary is growing almost daily; it's hard to keep up with all her new words (yucky, flower, color (as in crayons), monkey, etc...).

Hope to post some pictures soon.
